Solo show moves up from Notting Hill, London to prime Midlands venue.
Close Encounters of a Frillip Moolog Kind has been overwhelmingly described as joyous and uplifting.
Kirsty E. Smith makes sculptural works in response to her ongoing fascination with her surroundings, the domestic in particular. For Close Encounters of a Frillip Moolog Kind she has taken additional inspiration from vintage sci-fi films but with the twist of textiles and techniques more common to dance costumes and showbiz extravaganza.
Her intention is to create work which resonates on a deeply emotive level and which acts as a vehicle to reconnect with “another place” deep in our subconscious. Frillip Moolog is the name that she has given to such a place.
Kirsty will be presenting an Artist Talk on Thursday 29th October 6 – 7.30pm.
