Statement
I'm a Burslem based figurative artist. I enjoy exploring ways of recreating scenes from my own direct experience within my artwork.
I work largely in oil paint, a medium that allows me to imitate day-to-day visiual experiences with intense colours, layering, blending, glazing abilities and 3-dimensional textures.
I am interested in the illusion of space, and enjoy playing with dramatic viewing angles, near and far, height and depth. I have studied heavily wide angle perspectives and now want to play with that knowledge to create artworks that display scenes that surround you, but also by bending and contorting space - show my comment on the landscape.
I am very passionate about the value of direct observational work.

thanks, thats a great compliment - Schile is a favourite of mine :)
You've some excellent paintings on show here, with a great sensitivity of colour. Colour, and painting is something I've not mastered yet, but I'm about to start learning - I'll be interested to see how my figure work comes out in that medium too!
Are you still interested in exhibiting at the cafe? The benefit of the space is definitely the exposure...thousands of people pass through there every day.
Let me know - thanks Lara
Thanks for your kind comments, my work has stayed under the bed long enough and I'm getting braver in sharing my work as I get older. I liked the light you conveyed in the Matlock painting you had at last nights exhibition. Lara was going to introduce us but we had to leave after 8 o'clock so we must have missed you, next time eh,
Regards Tania :)
Sorry about the email thing...I've contacted the ISP and they say they're updating the mail server at the moment but that it should be working again within the next 24 hours. If you just send it to my address lara@clara.co.uk, I'll sort it out.
Thanks - Lara
But in a serious note, the painting is incredible. So so so grateful and need to talk about a commission for the band.
The guys in the framing studio are saying that you are keeping them busy busy busy and I had a look at some of your others in there. Super.

Speak soon and take care. B
The idea of common branding across the burslem's arts projects is spot on ... im so pleased you are all looking to grow what you have to the next level ... especially with the bid for future capital of culture in the pipeline for Stoke on Trent. Does this mean you will need the exiting websites templates updating or the domains pointing elsewhere. Let me know and i can sort this ...

I'm interested, but FRONTLINEdance couldn't do it, but it may be something Staffordshire Dance Collective would be interested in... I'm in the office this week if you want to pop in, alternatively email me: rachael@frontlinedance.org.uk , to arrange to meet. Sounds really interesting and something I'd definately like to have a chat about!
